This year the Sunshine Coast Pro Life group is joining with the Knights of Columbus to encourage a local protest coinciding with the large March for Life gatherings in the federal and provincial capitals. This year's slogan is End Female Gendercide.
It may come as a surprise to some of your readers that it its legal in Canada to have an abortion simply because the baby is the wrong gender. It may also come as a surprise that among residents coming from countries where male babies are valued more than female babies, parents are having the unwanted girls aborted in our country.
The United Nations has said that more than 200 million girl babies are missing.
This behaviour is unacceptable. The only way to control it is by having legal barriers.
The Sechelt March for Life will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 9, with a gathering of supporters by the St. Mary's Hospital bus stop and will continue down to MP John Weston's office at 5760 Teredo Street.
