A boil-water advisory has been issued for the Eastbourne water system on Keats Island.

The notice was made on Nov. 9 and remains in effect.

Water used for drinking, cooking and food preparation must be brought to a rolling boil for one minute.

According to the advisory, issued by a Drinking Water Officer, it was issued because a water sample found 180 coliforms with background growth, because three recent samples showed a consecutive increase in coliform counts, and because a significant increase in chlorine demand on the system has been observed.

Those with questions are advised to call Andrew Nadler, operator of the water supply system at 604-989-4119; Chris Morse, drinking water officer at 604-740-2081; or Darren Molder, senior drinking water officer, at 604-989-1357.
