In the women's league, Xenichen Ya Yas kept winning and Gibsons Pigs kept coming close, in their 3-2 match at Ted Dixon.
For Ya Yas it was Christina Joe with two and a single from Selina August while Pigs' strikes came from Rinette Lagasse and Charlie Taylor.
Fusion kept it respectable in their 2-1 loss to Mayhem, with Mayhem's goals by Jazzy Nebocat and Stephanie McCrone.
Source kept up their winning ways with their 3-1 defeat of Blazers with two goals from Carla Paetkau, and a single from Jenna Crozier. Jackie Ostrosky scored for Blazers.
In men's league action, Halfmoon Bay/Lighthouse Pub FC played whack-a-mole with the up and coming Pender Bananas squad in their 6-2 win. Ryan Daley scored four times with singles from Aaron Folk and Keith Lewis. Marcel Van Der Stelt needed a small recalibration as he hit two crossbars and two posts. Richard Massullo scored twice for Pender.
At Brothers Park, Big Mac's Bruins held Coast Progressive United to a 1-1 tie well into the second half, at which point Fumi Takahashi crossed into the Bruins' half and let drift a 35-yarder that found the top of the net.
Ken Fujimori and Morgan Hocking mucked it out in midfield, while brother Simon 'Berserker' Hocking netted two in CPU's 4-1 win. Adam August scored for the Bruins on a penalty.
Gibsons Pigs United kept it close with Sechelt Chiefs in their 5-2 loss. Kevin August returned to the pitch to bag two, while the ever-cagey, always-dangerous Nick Charlton had a hat trick. Pigs' Ian Marshall scored on a signature low shot into the corner (keepers take note), while Sean Park bagged his first ever.
Prior to each of the men's games, players observed a minute of silence for the passing of Reg Thomas, a relentless volunteer, a mentor and the type of person who is the soul of a town and makes a community a nice place to live.
