The Ya Yas pulled off a win and a tie to move into first place in the women's soccer league this week.

Ya Yas bested Fusion in a score that will not be named, getting hat tricks from Alvina Paul, Angela Muir, Rita Poulsen and Meaghan Pinchback, and singles from Molly and Sara Joe, Emma Carillo and Theresa Craigan.

Banana Peppers notched a point this week tying Sitas Sistahs with goals from Brooke Nattel and Taylor Metcaff on a cross from Amber Kincaide, while Sistahs' strikes came from Koree Rogers and Charly Mitrush.

In their win over Fusion Blazers scored seven times with three from Ashley Taylor, two from Chelsea Holm and a single from Nadine Slingerland.

In men's league action, Sitas kept their pizza dough spinning in the air again this week with a 2-1 win over Pender Harbour Bananas. Both Sitas' goals came from England import Rich Watson, while his fellow 'Limey in Crimey' striker Mike Brown was kept off the board. Bananas' first home game goal of the season came from speedy Brent Sheppard, recipient of the Joe Laintagne Cup.

It was a shootout at the Ted Dixon corral between the Sechelt Chiefs and Investors Group FC Wolves, and when the dust cleared, Chiefs won 6-4.

At Connor Park, Half-moon Bay and the Ridge-point Bruins tied 3-3, with HMB's odd couple Colin 'Boomtown' Bradley and Jesse 'Speedy Gonzales' Morantz posting their three goals.

For Ridgepoint, Grant 'Wind Beneath Their Wings' Marshall was instrumental in orchestrating all three goals, which came from Mike Husband, Pat Taylor and Bob Burrows.

Quote of the day comes from Ken Fujimori, who when asked why he was late for the match replied, "10:30 is hard to be somewhere on a Sunday."
