In men's league action this week, a 10-man CPU squad beat Halfmoon Bay 4-0. Luckily for CPU, HMB had nine men themselves. CPU striker Kurt Vernon used the space to his advantage, putting away two then setting up two more, as Graham Benjafieid scored from the wing.
The embattled Halfmoon Bay backline got some relief from returned fullback Trevor Cockfield.
Gibsons Pigs United stepped up their play and had IFC Wolves checking the time clock in a tough 2-1 loss. 'Dancing' Danny Muir and 'Flyin' Ryan Paul scored the IFC goals.
With the win, IFC has given notice to Pender that first place isn't in the bag yet, as Pender must now with their last two matches against third place CPU and second place IFC.
Pender got their big guns moved back into position on the front line, as their second generation Bananas all posted goals, with pairs from Adam Vanderwoerld and Ryan Daly, and singles from Marcel Vander Steldt and Steve 'Banana' Peel in their 6-1 win over Sechelt Chiefs.
The men's league has two more weeks left before their playoff weekend slated for April 9 and 10.
