The Sunshine Coast Boxing Club will play host to the War on the Shore on Saturday night, April 27, at the Gibsons Curling Club.

Doors open at 7 with the first fight at 7:30 p.m.

The card is shaping up to be an excellent night of action for local boxing fans, featuring a good mix of young and experienced amateur talent.

Gibsons Randy Hollett will fight Richmond's David Rojo for the Combative Sports Association of B.C. vacant City Boxing Title.

The cagey Hollett will be up against the favoured Rojo contested at the 154-pound light middleweight limit.

WBC Western Canadian 147-pound champion George Vourtsis, also from Gibsons, will battle North Burnaby Boxing Club's Andreii Zabrovskyi, a native of Russia, in a keep busy bout before the WBC Canadian championships in July.

Zabrovskyi is a natural middleweight, but will drop down to 155 pounds for this bout.

"This is a good bout for George to take," said SC Boxing Club founder Rick Shannon. "George gets a competitive fight in against a tall opponent, which could happen against the as of yet undetermined Ontario Golden Gloves Champion at the Canadian Championships this summer in Langley."

Local flyweight Beau Smith will battle Kelowna's Logan Wolff in what will be the second bout for both.

"Beau has worked hard in the gym and has developed well for a young boxer," said Shannon. "We are confident that the calm Smith will perform well in his bout.

Ryan Babor will be the Sunshine Coast's lightweight representative in a battle of novice 14-year-old boxers when he steps into the ring against Cody Edwards from Revelstoke.

Marcus Baptiste from Sechelt, now boxing out of Vancouver, will fight Jory Hovrath from Kelowna in a 180-pound match.

The show will also welcome Coast boxing favourite Tony Duffy as guest of honour, and his coach Barry Krangle will be the ring announcer and master of ceremonies.

Tickets are $20 available in advance by calling Hollett at 604-989-5180or at the club at 1010 Chamberlin Rd. in Gibsons. Tickets will also be available at the door.
