Gibsons Ryan Dempster is in the running for this year's SportsFunder Community Champion award, and you can help him get it.
Sport BC is calling upon the public to cast their vote for the SportsFunder Community Champion Award that recognizes an athlete who has made extraordinary contributions on and off the field and has inspired others to get involved in sport and do the same. This award is determined solely by the public's voting results. B.C. residents are encouraged to visit www.sport.bc.ca to vote which nominee they believe is this year's worthy recipient. Voting closes Monday, March 16, at 4 p.m. The award will be presented by TELUS at the 43rd Athlete of the Year Awards at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond on Tuesday, March 24.
Other nominees include: Olympic gold winning wrestler Daniel Igali; Phoenix Suns basketball player Steve Nash; Colorado Avalanche player Joe Sakic; and Christine Sinclair, Team Canada and Vancouver Whitecaps soccer player.
Vancouver Canucks player Trevor Linden was the inaugural recipient of the award last year for his contributions on and off the ice.
