With their team name seeming to be very fitting, the U11 girls team Storm played on Sunday in the middle of a nasty storm. Through the wind and torrential rain, the girls pulled up their wet socks and played soccer for their fans.
With Pippa Boothroyd's strong presence in net, the offensive line of Piper Goerzen, Paige Clucas, Mya Yakasovich and Olivia Tulk were able to focus on keeping the opposing team's defence busy. Unfortunately, big puddles thwarted their efforts.
The midfielders kept the game at a fast pace with Leela Fernandes, Royal Lumley, Clara Paschewych and Koenn Sauer feeding the ball through to the forwards. The defensive line of Mary Wood, Teagan Sweet, Faye Duffy and Ella Campbell were fast on their feet, tackling the ball from the opponents time after time.
In the end the girls did not take the win but are looking forward to their next game.
U10 girls
Halfmoon Bay Orange Crushes played C Navy on Saturday. Despite the terrible weather, the kids stuck it out with a 6-0 win for the HMB Crushes. Both teams played great, but Navy couldn't sneak any by Julia between the pipes and with Izzi and Talia shaking the net for Orange. Congratulations to both teams for hanging in there in tough conditions.
U15 boys
It was a very cold, rainy day, but a core 11 players on each team bravely played on in the Navy vs Highlighters match.
Team Navy's Dylan Broeke was a standout, scoring twice; one was a brilliant left-footed goal. Avery Gartshore played a great defensive game, and Liam Fulkerson shone as forward. They worked together really well as a duo.Quinn Girard doubled as goalie and forward and made a very nice goal during the last half.Aiden Beley really stepped up in defence and made some amazing transitions. Simran Deol had a great second half by making some awesome passes and nearly scoring. Great teamwork, Navy!
