The team of Harry Turner, Stan Butcher, Roy Wren and Judy Skogstad, lead, edged out the Bruce Relke team for the championship of the fall draw of the daytime mixed league at the Gibsons Curling Club in late December.

Curling with Relke were Sharon Biggin, third, Dave Proudfoot, second, and John O'Brien, lead. After the last rock was thrown in the championship match, the league members enjoyed a full-course dinner in the lounge.

The new daytime league of 17 men's and women's mixed teams was formed this year by the successful amalgamation of the former separate daytime mixed and men's leagues. With the wide age range of men and women who make up this league, the goal is for friendly, competition. In order to achieve this goal, the teams are balanced and will be reset for the winter session.

Games are played on Tuesdays and Fridays and play will resume today (Jan. 7). Anyone wishing to join the league is welcome and should call the Gibsons Curling Club at 604-886-7512.
