U15 Inferno beat the Surrey Ravens 2-1 last weekend for their fourth win in five games.
A physically strong Surrey team made for many one-on-one battles, of which the Inferno won most.
Backing up an injured Cassy Armstrong in the Inferno goal was Clare Lyle, who kept the mesh clean after an early, solid goal from Surrey.
A well-placed free kick from Maryah Paul led to a goal by Talia Barnum early in the second half to tie the game.
The second and winning goal was preceded by a series of stellar passes that got the ball to Sydney Downie's feet. A strong charge to the net and a well-placed left footer sealed the Ravens' fate.
This game marks the second consecutive comeback win for the Inferno, which is testament to the determination of a team that struggled early on in the season with injuries and illness. A special mention goes to Sarah Huddlestone who, while at the tail end of an ankle injury, kept United on their heels by being a constant threat on the front line.
Inferno should take pride in a game that saw impeccable passing, solid defence (led by the ever speedy and wise Jackie Morris on sweep), constant communication and strikes from all points on the field.
