The U12 Thunderbirds are enjoying a four-game unbeaten streak after a tough season last year.

The boys started the year with a Labour Day tourney where they dropped its first two games by scores of 2-1 and 2-0 against teams a division above them.

They then closed the weekend with a 0-0 tie and a 3-0 win.

Strong defending by Isaac Oka, Eden Klinger, Brendin Moscrip, and Coulter Prestage was backed up perfectly by Brandon Ree-Legace and Jacob Chabot in goal.

Coulter scored on a great run from the back and Daniel Bobocel hit the top corner after Grayson Bush opened the season's goal account.

The Thunderbirds regular season opener was a 3-3 tie against Cliff Ave in Burnaby. The boys started strong with a goal by Cole Schutz and then Daniel put in the rebound on another screamer from Cole.

Cliff Ave got one back before Sean Pletz hit a wonder goal from 25 yards out. Unfortunately a few lapses in concentration resulted in two late ones for the home side and Kai Hansen's bending shot couldn't beat the post, and the boys took home a tie.

Last weekend was the Thunderbirds home opener and the boys came back for a 2-2 tie. Cole opened the scoring before ICSF Napoli hit for two. Will Magnussen and Elliot Wadge continued their strong play in the centre of midfield creating many chances and Sean finally got one past their keeper for the tie.

U13 boys

The Scorpions are off to their strongest start in three seasons of rep soccer.

The Scorpions started its match last weekend at Burnaby Lake looking a little sluggish, but aggressive defensive play by Gabe Goerzen and Keegan Inkster sparked the rest of the team. Crisp, quick passes by Evan Griffin, Finn Rogers, and Bradley Huddlestone kept Burnaby chasing the ball.

The first goal came off a rush started by winger Quin Towert. He made a long pass to Jordan Kammerle, who dished the ball to Justin Fodchuk for a quick shot into the back of the net.

The second goal came not long after, with Everett August burying a rebound from Duncan Armstrong's initial shot. Philip Fogarty and Cole Cooney both had near misses as the Scorpions continued to press offensively.

The final goal of the game was scored by Liam Rankin, whose determination outweighed the pain in his injured leg. Tristan Tidder intimidated the Burnaby forwards with his speed and size. Focused and calm, goalkeeper Xavier Benoit Benjamin recorded his first shutout of the year.
