Sunshine Coast Skating Club member passes gold test

Passing a gold freeskate is quite a milestone for young skaters. This award puts Lucy Watson in a small group of hard-working, diligent skaters throughout B.C. and Canada and is an achievement that many skaters do not reach.

Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s Lucy Watson recently received her gold freeskate hardware she achieved shortly before the pandemic began.

Sunshine Coast Skating Club member Lucy Watson passed her gold freeskate just prior to the onset of COVID restrictions. The club recently received her gold pin and medal from the national Skate Canada organization and we presented these to Lucy early last week.

Passing a gold freeskate is quite a milestone for young skaters. This award puts her in a small group of hard-working, diligent skaters throughout B.C. and Canada and is an achievement that many skaters do not reach.

The Skate Canada STARskate program has 10 freeskate tests with two parts in each, so 20 tests in total, and the final gold freeskate test has again two parts. This is the highest freeskate test possible in our Skate Canada testing system. Lucy now competes at the Novice Ladies’ level in the Skate Canada Competitive Podium Path.

Huge congratulations go to Lucy from the entire club for this major accomplishment!
