The Mackenzie Mussels from Sechelt paddled their way to first place in their division at the False Creek Knock-Out Regatta on Saturday, May 14.
“Despite being two paddlers short, our team demonstrated their skill and tenacity in paddling to the top of the pack in a total of five races,” club steer Patrick Tritchler said. “It was really thrilling to see our club deliver this victory.”
The Mussels are a mixed team comprised of men and women of various ages paddling out of Mackenzie Marina in Sechelt.
The Knock-Out Regatta is a hugely popular yearly event drawing dragon boat teams from across the province. The Mackenzie Mussels were one of four local teams sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Dragon Boating Association.
