The Pacific Blades Speed Skating Club capped off their most successful season to date with several medal-winning performances at the recent provincial champions in Dawson Creek.

Justin Fodchuk won gold in the bantam division, while Willie Daigneault won an iron medal for his fourth place finish in the midget division.

Willie was then selected to represent B.C. at the national championship in Campbellton, N.B. where he finished ninth overall, despite some bad luck resulting in disqualification and crashes in some races.

Justin did not participate at the nationals as the bantam division was not included. He will have to wait until next year when he moves up to the midget division.

Nicole Maseja, who trains off-Coast, won a silver medal at the provincials in the intermediate division and finished 11th at nationals.

Pacific Blades would like to thank all their community supporters and sponsors, for without them, they could not achieve the results. Pacific Blades has a few limited spots open for new skaters interested in speed skating commencing in September. Call Peter at 604-885-9077 for details.
