Softball players from the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island were among the participants in Powell River Sunday for a charity event to raise funds for the family of Chris Godfrey. Godfrey, 32, succumbed to his injuries after being hit in the back in the head during a Comox Valley Slopitch League game Aug. 20.
The event, which raised nearly $4,000 for Godfrey’s wife and daughter, was planned by organizer Ben Veenhof in less than a week. Prizes and food were donated by local vendors and more than 60 players played a total of six games throughout the day.
