The Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s October Skater of the Month is Halle McHeffey. Halle is 13 and attends Elphinstone Secondary in Grade 8. She says she loves being able to see her skating friends, working on footwork, edges and skills when skating. She is hoping to get back to skating competitions at some point this season (which have not happened at her levels due to COVID restrictions). She is working toward moving up a level, passing some skills, dance and freeskate tests, and learning new jumps and spins. “Halle makes her best effort to be on time, comes early to complete off-ice warm-ups, helps give back to the club and community by volunteering on Canskate, and has a great work ethic on the ice,” the club said. “She is polite and respectful. Keep up the good work, Halle!”
