Lucy Watson is the Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s July Skater of the Month.
Lucy is 11 years old and will be going into Grade 6 in September at Cedar Grove. Lucy loves the speed and challenge that skating provides. Her favourite things in skating are jumps and free skate. When she is not on the ice she keeps busy with gymnastics and rock climbing. Lucy’s professional coaches Lesleigh Farr and Daryl Austman say Lucy is very self-motivated, driven to succeed.
She is transitioning from Starskate to Competitive Skate this year and will compete in Pre Juvenile Ladies, having received Gold assessments at Star levels 1, 2 and 3 as well as winning the gold medal at several competitions in Star 4 and Star 5.
Lucy has been travelling with other club skaters twice weekly to Squamish in May and Sunset in Vancouver in June for ice time. She is currently billeting in Vancouver and attending Champs International to enable her to train daily as per her competitors and peers.
Lucy is an excellent student and is extremely coachable, polite, and respectful and shows great potential.
Keep up the good work, Lucy!
