The Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s skater of the month for August is Cooper Jones.
Cooper won a gold medal in Star 4 boys at the Super Series competition in Parksville in April. He won a silver medal in Star 4 boys at the Regional Championships in Vancouver in February.
He has attended skating in Powell River while there was no ice in Gibsons and attended skating in Victoria in July again for necessary ice time.
He is currently skating in Gibsons on pre-season ice and will begin the fall session this month.
Cooper passed Skate Canada tests, Junior Silver Skills and a Junior Silver Dance in March.
His coaches say Cooper is determined and committed, has a great work ethic and is a good role model for other skaters. Congratulations, Cooper, and keep up the good work!
Currently Cooper attends Ecole du Pacifique and is in Grade 7. Cooper says his favourite thing in skating is getting out there and competing. What he loves most is the technical aspects of dance. When Cooper is not skating, he likes to take music lessons at the Sounds Space, make art and draw, bounce on his trampoline and play with his favourite dog, Peanut.
Way to go, Cooper!
