CPU's 'Jumping' Jesse Gemmel may be closer in size to a calf, but roared down the wing like a raging bull in a china shop, crashing into keeper Rich Getzkow as the ball rolled over the line. Sitas answered when 20-year league veteran Dave 'Riverdance' Nanson clicked home a sassy back-heel, which even had Limerick native son John Sheehey nodding in approval. Keepers Getzkow and CPU's John Lussier then shut up shop for the afternoon, making at least 10 saves between them.

At Ted Dixon, after putting his finger in the air to check the wind speed and direction, 'The Lion of Sliammon' Leon Timothy expertly sailed a 40-yard free kick into the net, which Naval academies will be studying in ballistics classes for years to come. Wolves' back liners Corey August and company kept Sean Whalen off the board to maintain the 1-0 lead, but then, even Henrik Sedin had a slow start to the season.

Reporting up from the woolly wilds of the north Coast's Halfmoon Bay/Pender derby, Halfmoon Bay media liaison Jeff Wadge had this to say, "Pender scored early through HMB old boy Adam Vanderwoerd with a nice cross shot volley that was too hot to handle for in-form goalie Trevor Cockfield. Pender kept their lead during long periods of scrappy play. HMB manager Dave Marshstarted to sweat ashe juggled subs in an attempt to unlock a resilient Pender defence.

"With 20 minutes to go, Taki Volushi popped up with a low drive into the corner of the Pender net past a despairing Alan Stewart. That opened the floodgates and HMB poured in three more from Chris Croteau, Jay Gould and Colin 'Top Scorer' Bradley. HMB all-star Greg Stinson didn't score, but was still Man of the Match in another dominant midfield performance."

In women's league action last Wednesday, Banana Peppers beat Fusion 2-1, and Blazers and Sitas played to a scoreless draw.

On Sunday, Sitas edged Fusion 2-1, Mayhem and Ya Yas tied 1-1, and Banana Peppers beat Source 2-1.
