The U7 Sechelt Bumble Bees and U10 Sechelt Warriors represented the Sechelt Indian Band (SIB) and the Sunshine Coast with pride, winning last weekend.

The Bumble Bees finished second and were named the most sportsmanlike team, while the Warriors took first place at the Musqueam tournament at the University of British Columbia.

The Bumble Bees played with only six players all weekend, and despite their limited line-up, went undefeated in the round robin, scored 43 goals and gave up only five. Sechelt won their semifinal game 3-1 and faced Seabird Island in the final, losing a hard-fought and exciting game 3-1.

Sechelt may have come home with the second-place trophy, but coaches and parents were very proud of their efforts in winning the most sportsmanlike team in memory of Dr. Michael Ames. It was a great weekend for Savannah Dixon, Taliah Yelton, Kordell Johnson, Isaiah Craigan, Anastasia Robson and Jaden Fodchuk. Individual game MVP awards went to Kordell with two, Isaiah with two, Taliah, Anastasia and Jaden. All-star team awards were given to Kordell as best goalie, Isaiah as MVP, Taliah as an all-star and Anastasia for best defence.

The Sechelt Warriors went undefeated in all five of their games, working really well together with 12 players on the bigger seven-a-side fields. Sechelt scored a lot of goals with very few scored against. Individual game MVP awards went to Justin Fodchuk with two, Cassius Craigan, Eva Robson, Cobi August and Seth Joe.

All-star awards also went to Justin for most offensive, Seth as best goalie, Cassius as MVP, Eva as an all-star and Cobi as an all-star.

The Sechelt Nation heads to Seabird Island this weekend for their next tournament.
