The Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club (SCGCC) will play host to some of the top senior men's golfers next week.

The 2004 B.C. Senior Men's Championship will begin play bright and early at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The event, organized by the B.C. Golf Association (BCGA) will bring together 120 players from B.C. and Washington state for the three-day event.

Tee-off times for all three days of the championship will be at 7 a.m. at the course in Roberts Creek. After the second round, the field will be cut down to the low 70 golfers and ties for the final round of play.

This is an amateur event with the top four golfers making up Team B.C., which will represent the province at the nationals later this summer.

The event is open to male amateurs who have attained their 55th birthday by the first day of the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) Senior's tournament, Sept. 13, 2004, with no upper age limit. So far, according to the tournament website, George Grafton is the lone local player registered in the field.

"We're looking forward to another great week of golf," said Jim Pringle, head professional at the SCGCC. "The senior ladies' event we had the privilege of hosting in June was a tremendous success, and we're hoping that next week's event will be even better."

Spectators are welcome at the course throughout the week. For more information on tee-off times or the tournament, check out www.bcga.org.
