The senior girls volleyball teams from Chatelech and Elphinstone secondary schools qualified for the Division One Championship, which was set to be played at Sentinel in North Vancouver on Nov. 2.
On Monday, Elphinstone defeated Chatelech in three close sets for the semi-final, which ended with Elphinstone ranked in second place and Chatelech in third place in the nine-team division.
“Both teams have had great seasons,” said Chatelech coach Darren Causon.
He said both teams have also qualified for the Lower Mainland qualification tournament, which will be held Nov. 16 and 17 in Richmond, for a berth at the provincials.
The Juvenile girls team from Chatelech defeated Sutherland earlier in the week and were set to play a semi-final on Thursday against Handsworth.
