The Elphinstone senior girls volleyball team continued its strong early season play winning the silver tier at a tournament at Trinity Western University last weekend.

The Cougars finished 17th at the 48-team event.

The team is also preparing to host its annual Cougar Camp at the school on Friday, Oct. 21. The team will be the assistant coaches with Dan Tsuiji as the head coach. The camp is for both girls and boys in grades 5 to 8 and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $40 and the price includes a camp T-shirt. Registration forms are available at all elementary schools on the Coast.

The camp is a fundraiser for the team and will be used for travel expenses. The Cougars do not have any home games this year and are travelling every week (sometimes twice a week) to the North Shore for games. Each player pays $15 a week, plus food expenses while tournaments are usually anywhere from $40 to $100 per player. In order for the team to remain competitive they must travel and play in tournaments.

The Cougars are hoping for a big turnout and lots of enthusiastic elementary-school players keen on learning more about the game of volleyball and improving their skills.
