Second Co-ed Hockey Fundraiser scores more than $8,000 for food banks

S. Hockey team
The Rusty Cranks and Sunshine Coast Women's Hockey League collaborated for a great cause in the second annual Co-ed Hockey Fundraiser last weekend.

We are extremely happy to announce this year’s Co-ed Hockey Christmas Fundraiser has brought in more than $8,000 in donations that will be distributed equally to the Pender Harbour, Sechelt and Gibsons food banks. The collaboration between the Rusty Cranks hockey club and Sunshine Coast Women’s Hockey League (SCWHL) has once again demonstrated how heartwarming it is to work together for a common good. Special thanks to Milynda Taylor of M. Taylor’s Accounting Services for handling the donations and organizing tax receipts; to Irma Mahar for maintaining the provincial health requirements and keeping us safe; to Thor Olsen for being the time keeper and letting us know the final score was three to two for the Mavericks, well done Mavericks; to Glen Leon for his portrayal of Santa Claus in “You’d better be good or into the penalty box you go!”; to the many fans who warmed our hearts by filling the arena with their sounds of cheers and hoorahs; and last but not least to the Trail Bay Source for Sports for contributing the MVP awards to each team.

Our deepest thanks from the organizing team of Margaret Green, Thea Mahar and myself.

See you all next year. Be Safe.
