SD46 hosts successful track meet

ATHLETICS

Under difficult political conditions, School District No. 46 teachers and administrators were able to work together to pull off the annual elementary school track and field meet at Elphinstone Secondary School last Friday, May 30.

While the exciting high jump held at Chatelech Secondary School had to be cancelled due to “lock-out” conditions, teachers, students and administrators rallied with more than 400 elementary athletes from grades 3 to 7 from all elementary schools, enjoying a gorgeous track day.

Special merit goes to Elphi teacher Clint Fox and his Grade 10 PE class, who prepped and ran the meet smoothly, and also to Sara Mani and her Elphi grad class who manned the concession stand for the day.

While many districts around the Lower Mainland were cancelling meets and school events, hats go off to this district’s teachers and upper administration for working together to pull off this day. Special thanks also to senior students from Chatelech, Kasey Vader and Jordan Wilson, and TJ Turenne from Elphi who put their plans aside to help out with the meet.
