The U11 boys Scorpions and U18 Bandidos captured a silver and gold medal respectively at last weekend's Lynn Valley soccer tournament in North Vancouver.

The Bandidos were impressive throughout, going undefeated in four games, scoring 20 goals while giving up only two. Sam Garmulewicz led the way with 12 goals followed by three from Amr Salem, two each from Bray Vansprepen and Thompson Shellborn and a single from Kelly Perreur-Lloyd.

The Scorpions lost their first game 2-1 to the West Van Spartans, but rebounded for a 1-0 win over Lynn Valley, which was the Scorpions first win over a Lynn Valley team this season, and the key to getting into the final.

The game winner was scored by the persistent Liam Rankin, and the shutout earned by goalie Jordan Kammerle.

On Sunday, Ben Luporini lead the charge against the Kerrisdale Strikers, scoring two goals, while Quintin Towert followed up with a third. Outstanding defence from Tristan Tidder, Bradley Huddlestone and Phillip Fogarty, and gritty play from midfielders and forwards Eden Klinger, Kai Moore and Grayson Perrier kept the boys in the hunt for the championship.

In the U15 boys division, coach Kuna Sekaren selected the best of the Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association's players for a tournament entry.

The team played valiantly against the Gold Rep teams from Vancouver. Although they lost all their games, they played with spirit and lost with dignity. It was one of those learning experiences and a great preparation for the upcoming year-end house league tournament March 27 and 28.
