Hot, dry and dusty is the only way to describe the Race the Ranch cross country and downhill mountain bike courses. Despite that, Sunshine Coast Cycle Club (SCC) racers had great results.
Close to 30 SCC members made the trek to Kamloops on the June 6/7 weekend for the second race in the BC Cup series.
Sebastian Sleep took the top spot in the junior men's cross country with a commanding five-minute lead after four laps.
Jessica Marquis rode extremely well in the junior women's cross country, finishing second.
Grace Stanhope topped the podium in the U15 women's category.
In the downhill, U17 men's Linden Feniak tore up the technical course, finishing second, with Harrison Duxbury-Sleep close behind in fourth. Holly Feniak took the top spot in the women's U15.
Simon Young, competing in junior men, had a crash near the bottom of the course and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. Simon is recovering from his injuries and should be back on his bike in a week or two.
It was great to have SCC team coach Bob Stanhope out there showing us all that he still has what it takes to pull off a good race as he tackled the cross country in the master men's category.
