On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Suncoast Racquet Club hosted the Rogers Rookie Tour Tennis Tournament in Sechelt.

The event featured future tennis stars in the U8 to U10 age group, and parents and tennis fans were treated to a spectacular display of tennis.

Each player focused on completing a minimum of three tennis sets during the tournament, and were supported through the coaching of club instructor Jacques Joyal. Parents were on hand to facilitate game scoring, and snacks, treats and Rogers gift bags were available to all participants. This enthusiastic group of players included Lorren and Heather Benko, Nyle Lebell, Mari Nielsen, Nathan Burnham and Louis Perrier. The group had played and practised together throughout the summer, and plan to continue taking lessons through the club.

This annual tournament is sponsored by Rogers, in association with Tennis Canada, and is meant to feature and celebrate the tennis stars of tomorrow.
