The Rob Rempel rink from the Royal City Curling Club toppled the Richard rink from the Lower Mainland in the 'A' event final of the annual mixed curling bonspiel last weekend in Gibsons.
The game was close for the first four ends until the Rempel foursome closed the door with seven-ender in the sixth end.
Third place in the 'A' event went to the Dwayne Clegg rink of Marlene Brown, Ken Brown and Cheryl Topping from Gibsons while fourth place went to the Darren Kopeck team of Sylvia Kopeck, Karl Messner and Darla Messner.
In the 'B' event, the Al LanFranco rink from Langley beat the Mike Lesik rink of Sharon Biggin, Dave Barratt and Kate Barrat from Gibsons in the final.
Third and fourth place in the 'B' event were two teams from Royal City who decided not to play their game and split the prize money.
In the 'C' event, the Jared Wannamaker foursome of Jared, Juanita Wannamaker, Ken Johnson and Chris Reynolds from Gibsons beat the Colin Gatzke team of Sue Mearns, Marty Semaniuk and Laura Semaniuk in the final.
The game was close for the first three ends, but a steal of one in the fourth, three in the fifth and another two in the sixth by Wannamaker closed out the game.
Third in the 'C' event went to the Dennis Mann rink from Gibsons, which included Sue Grenier, Bill Baker and Manon Staiger.
A total of 18 teams took part this year, eight of which came from out of town.
