The Central Baseball League (CBL) welcomes its newest players and families this 2012 season with Baseball Canada's Rally Cap program. Created with fun and skill building in mind for kids from five to seven years of age, Rally Cap uses a 6:1 player to coach ratio introducing the intricacies of hardball in a positive, goal setting environment.
Rally Cap players thrive. Through even playing times and repetition of skills and drills, kids experience what it means to play ball - and when you only have six players on a team, we do it a lot.
A typical practice lasts 75 minutes and is comprised of three teams kicking off with a 15-minute group warm-up. Each team then splits off to one of three stations - hitting, catching or general knowledge/outfield. Team one runs drills in the deep outfield as team two and three play a 'game styled' practice; one at bat and one at base. Once each player has had a turn at bat (20 min/half inning) all teams rotate stations.
As players develop skills, coaches assign hat colours in keeping with Baseball Canada guidelines. Build your skills, and change your cap colour. Repetition and re-enforcement is of benefit both to the player and the parent who may not have a clue where to begin.

Challenger baseball is in its fourth year on the Coast thanks to the generous support of McDonalds, Sechelt Lions Club, Sechelt Credit Union and Scotiabank, and is aninclusive division for children with physical or cognitive issues that allows them to have fun and play in a safe environment.
Each week Challenger families meet for a rousing game of baseball, adapted to the individual needs of the player. Scores are kept based on laughter and smiles, not home runs. Using a buddy system, Challenger ensures a terrific social experience where every player can accomplish every challenge. This supportive, fun and inclusive environment would make even the darkest heart grow 10 sizes. For more information on Challenger, please contact Leanna Perpet at [email protected].
CBL registration is on now, through March 1. Packages available at www.cblbaseball.ca or at the Sechelt Fish market.
