The Sunshine Coast Drag Racing Association is celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend.
Come to the Sechelt airport on Sunday and join the club as they kick off their 11th annual racing season.
You will be in for a tire smokin', gear jammin', wheelie poppin', red linin', motor meltin' good time.
This is racing on a 1/8th mile track. Many returning racers will be back this year trying to repeat their wins from years previous.
Association president Wayne Taylor promises a sun-filled day of racing to delight and excite all those who come to see.
There will be five classes of cars racing, so there will be something for everyone's pleasure. The exhibition class is the one that most fans come to see. These are the dragsters, door slammers and specialty race cars that are not made for driving on the street.
The track record is held by a dragster from Washington. We are anticipating that Jim Dillinger and Eric Krume will be here for our opening day of racing. These two gentlemen always put on a great show and both have held our track record.
Roger Manson with his car Rapid Fire will once again be here to give some impressive passes. It is billed as a Willys, but is a car powered by a blown Pontiac four-cylinder engine and it just screams.
So break out the suntan lotion, bring the lawn chairs and be ready to have a great day at the strip. Remember to leave your alcohol and dogs at home; neither will be allowed at the track.
If you want to race, bring the family sedan. You can race it in street machine class and have the time of your life.
Tech inspection starts at 8 a.m. with racing at 9 a.m. Admission is $10 for spectators and $40 for racers.
