The undefeated Predators took on undefeated Grandview Griffins last Saturday.
The U15 boys opened the scoring two minutes into the game when Tyler Jennens sent a pass through to Andrew Strom, who raced past the last defender and blasted a shot past the Griffins' goalie.
The Predators saw their lead disappear one-minute later when Grandview equalized. The locals controlled the rest of the half,led by Evan Sorensen in the midfield, but could not find the net.
Ten minutes into the second half, Shale Douglas passed across the field to Ollie Williams who sent a low cross to Tyler who chipped in the go-ahead goal.
Fifteen minutes from the end, Andy Blattlerpassed to Lee Gye moving up from the defence. Lee sent an accurate cross to Elliot Cayer, who deflected in a highlight reel goal. Grandview found the net at the final whistle to make the score respectable, but the Predators walked away with a well-deserved 3-2 win.
Jason Teitge, Elvis Lu and Jack Davies also had strong games for the Predators.
U17 girls
The Stingrays had an intense game Sunday against the North Shore Vipers winning 2-1.
In the first half, newcomer Beth Nanson scored her first goal on a penalty kick. In the second half, Emma Carrillo took a long free kick and slipped it just under the cross bar. Stingrays' veteran Farren MacDonald summed up the game nicely: "It was a really tenacious effort by the Stingrays. The North Shore Vipers didn't know what hit them."
U11 boys
The Scorpions lost 1-0 in a well-matched game against the South Burnaby Dragons last weekend.
It was a spicy contest, with the Scorpions clearly controlling the on-field proceedings by refusing to do anything but attack. Jordon Kammerle held fast as keeper in the first half, allowing Scorpion defencemen Tristin Tidder and Eden Klinger to prove their worth.
Wingers Grayson Perrier and Quintin Towert fed well-placed passes to Scorpion mid and forwards Justin Fodchuk, Bradley Huddleston, Everett August and Caio Machado who had the home crowd roaring. Burnaby came alive in the second half and peppered Scorpion keeper Liam Rankin with an onslaught of action, who held off all shots but one.
U12 boys
Following a pitched battle, Sunshine Coast Wave suffered their first loss in four games 2-1 to the Grandview Clan on Oct. 3.
Wave was off to a promising start with a premier league-worthy corner kick/header goal combination from Jagger Campbell assisted by Gabriel Chamberlain in the opening seconds.
The game was an exciting one to watch, with several shifts in momentum between the evenly matched teams.
Forwards Keenan Flem-ming, Cassius Craig-nan and Kighe Coady maintained persistent pressure, but the Clan answered with two goals of their own in the first half.
Midfielders Graydon Inksater, Jasper Deasey and Josh Mowbray provided stalwart support to courageous keeper Sebastian Rohlicek and his determined defensive line comprised of Logan Nattall, Leif Magnussen, Jordy Fawcett and Alex Toigo, which kept the Clan scoreless during the second half.
