The Predators took on the Richmond Rangers in their last game of the regular season last weekend.
With two cup final games upcoming, the Predators wanted to end the season with a win, and they did, big time, in a 5-1 victory.
Early in the game, James Newton sent Matthew Brenholen in on a break. Matthew coolly picked the corner to give the Predators the lead. Ten minutes later, Richmond equalized on a penalty shot to make the score 1-1 at the half.
The Predators came out flying in the second half.
First, Matthew scored his second when he stole the ball from the Rangers goalie and found the open net. Less than two minutes later, Darryl Julius blasted the ball into the net from 30 yards out. Elvis Lu and Tyler Jennens also scored. Evan Sorensen, Shale Douglas and Jacques Martiquet also played strong games.

In the Spartans 1-0 victory over the Lynn Valley Hawks last weekend, glory, upset, passion and determination were the main ingredients in the most competitive and thrilling match of the season, where the Spartans locked down their status as division champions.
Well trained under the disciplined leadership of coaches Karl Bush and Bob Hoy, credit for the Spartans' triumphant season is directed to each player performing their best. Up against the best their division had to offer, the Spartans quickly set the pace of the game, played aggressively, refused to sit back on their heels, and went out on the attack and challenged the highly-ranked Hawks.
Late in the second half, Jordan Hoy scored for the Spartans, and the Hawks were ignited with a sudden fury. Netminder Jordan Wilson's invaluable performance galvanized the team's spirit, and the Spartans pulled together with a full team effort to pick up the win to the delight of their coaches and cheering parents on the sidelines.
