The Gibsons Pigs fell to 1-2 after a 28-7 loss against the Blues in Chilliwack last Saturday.

Gibsons headed to Chilliwack three players short and managed to pick up one player when they got to the field. But playing two players short for the game, Gibsons just ran out of gas.

"We controlled the ball in the first half, but in the second half, they started to use their backs who were young and fast and they took the game over," said captain Albert Bezaire. "It was a good battle, but when you're down two players it eventually will catch up to you. They scored a couple more tries and that was basically the game."

Gibsons also recruited a couple of guys from the soccer team to play in Saturday's game - players who had never played rugby before.

"The guys really played hard for us," Bezaire said.

Gibsons lone try of the match was scored late in the second half by Josh Henshaw.

The Pigs are back on the road today (Oct. 2) in Surrey against the Beavers. So far, Surrey has had to forfeit all its games, so Bezaire is hoping they can get a game in.

The league is off for the Thanksgiving long weekend, then returns to a full schedule the following weekend, when the Pigs travel to Kelowna.

Gibsons next home game is Oct. 23 against Kamloops.

"If we can't get in the game action we need practice time," Bezaire said. "Hopefully we can get more guys out to practice and get prepared for the game in Kelowna."
