The Sunshine Coast Peewee Blues C2 checking team recently attended a Christmas tournament at Canlan Ice Sports in North Vancouver.

The Blues came out strong, winning first place in their pool. However, after six games in three days, they just couldn't hold off the hard-playing North Vancouver team and lost their last game 2-1, placing them fourth.

The whole team played incredibly welltogether. Goalies Andrew Hanna and Jeremy Smethurst shared a shutout, forwards Hunter Mensink, Jordan Anderson, Keeran Peel, Malclom Roberts, Quinn Ewert and Kayden Simpson together nettednine goals. Included in this was Malcolm's very important first goal of the season.

Defencemen Cayman Froude, Sam Knight, Jordan Robinson and Shawn Stahl also helped out the goals. The tournament was highlighted by power defenceman Jordan's four-goal game on the second day.

"All in all the team had a lot of fun and played extremely well as a team," said manager Sue Wilson.

"The hospitality of the North Vancouver Hotel and the hosting teams in North Vancouver added to this incredible experience for players and parents.

"As team manager, I have to say I am totally impressed with the sportsmanship and class of this team of young men who stayed on the iceand simultaneously clapped their sticks while the other team received their medals. A job well done, all are winners in my book."
