Last Saturday, Nov. 16, marked the start of the novice division season with the Leafs playing the Canucks and Canadians playing the Senators.

The kids were raring to go, after several months of practice and anticipation.

The Leafs and Canucks were well matched, with Fergus Pringle of the Leafs scoring the first goal in the first period.

The Canucks came back with a vengeance, with Mikayla Totten tying the game a minute later. Both teams were looking for a win. Matti McGuire had an amazing breakaway, and the Canucks led 2-1 at the end of the first period.

In the second period, Ben Walker scored two goals for the Leafs with an amazing pass by Matthew Iverson, but couldn't take the lead after Jack Malnarick's hat trick. In a tightly fought game, the strong play of goalie Charlie Dempster brought the Canucks to a victory.

The Canadians and Senators also played an exciting game.

The Senators kept the pressure on goalie Kaleb Parker Jervis with 17 shots on net and goals from Connor McKevitt, and Ethan Dorey.

The Canadians rallied with a goal by Drayden Ashley, pulling their goalie in the last minute of play, but Rocky Nordvie got a breakaway, scoring the third goal into the empty net, to make the final 3-1 for the Senators.
