Sasha McDougall Solis is a 15-year-old Grade 10 student at Elphinstone Secondary School who recently joined the skating club after moving from Alberta. She is passionate about skating because it is where she finds her home away from home. What Sasha loves most about skating is the opportunity to fall and get up as many times as you need – you are allowed to make mistakes, because it is part of the journey. Although Sasha has only recently started figure skating, she is looking forward to her first STAR competition later this month, where she is willing to continue training and give her best.
“She is responsible, respectful, dedicated, hard-working and very demanding of herself,” the club said in its announcement. “She follows through with proper off-ice warm-ups, off-ice training participation and puts 100% effort into her on-ice sessions. Congratulations Sasha for being chosen November’s SCSC Skater of the Month. Keep up the great work!”
