The SCGCC has recently completed an extension to its first hole and a major expansion of its clubhouse, both of which drew rave reviews from the participants from around B.C. and Alberta. The clubhouse is now the largest facility on the Coast, capable of holding dinner functions for 150 people. As well, the club has extended their deck - with awesome views of the golf course and Georgia Strait over to Vancouver Island.
Tournament organizer Lai Jean Wall expressed delight with the event.
"As the longest running tournament on the Coast, we're always delighted to welcome back old friends and to meet new visitors to our wonderful club," said Wall. Head pro Jim Pringle said he was also impressed with the level of play during the weekend. "It's a laid back, friendly atmosphere and I think that makes it such a good tournament," Pringle said. "We have a contingent about 30 strong from Surrey. From a staff perspective, we love this event because of the people. It's such a strong contingent of the same faces every year. You get to know the players and it's the friendships made that make this tournament so unique."
