The men's and women's teams returned to league play this week. Meanwhile, the Sechelt Indian Band mourned the loss of young Kyle August and the motivated Band teams all posted victories on the pitch.

The league's condolences and prayers are with the August family.

Kevin August, Kyle's father, just wrapped up a 20-year career with both the Wolves and the Chiefs and was a ferocious competitor whose inspired explosive play up front always made a match into an event.

On the pitch this week, a panting CPU managed to keep the score tied at 1-1 with some twitchy quick hands from keeper Jeff Maisonette and Big Tony blocking out the ball at the IGFC end. In the second half, IGFC hit their stride and the back of the net, to finish the match 4-1.

Sechelt Chiefs showcased their talent with a 6-0 victory over Sita United FC. Goals came from Matty 'make-a-little-magic' Joe and Scott Johnson, midfielder Curtis Craigan and fullback Keith Johnson.

In the women's league on Wednesday evening, after 80 minutes of even back and forth play between Fusion and Ya Yas, Eli August suddenly scored a hat trick before the end of the match to give Ya Yas the win.

The new women's team, Banana Peppers, got the roofs of their goalmouth scorched with a merciless 12-1 beating from Mayhem. The Beepies took the hard lesson to their next match against Source, and it ended in a respectable 3-0 defeat. If this rate continues, they should win their next match 6-1.

Blazers edged Pigs 3-2, with Blazers goals from Jen Bridgeman, Cory MacPherson and Christine Campbell and Pigs strikes from Ellen Thomas and Shelbi Mcdonell.
