The Canada Cup race series brings the best riders from each province together as the series winds its way across Canada. While it's not possible to attend all races, Coast racers made their presence known at several western races including the finals.

Katherine Short, who has dominated this season, kept up her winning ways, placing first in U15 women.

Katherine really enjoyed meeting and competing with her peers from other provinces. Although she is an excellent technical rider, it was her fitness that carried her to the finish line.

Sean Stanhope placed third in U15 men. He was in second as he approached the finish, but a fall allowed a rider to pass him and he ran out of time to catch up. Sean, who has suffered from illness the last few weeks, felt much better. Although not 100 per cent, he is on the road to recovery and his form and fitness are returning.

Matt Cottrell placed seventh in Junior Expert men -an excellent finish for him considering he was battling not only the competition but also the stomach flu. Matt's passion and enthusiasm for the sport are contagious. His training program would bring most people to their knees.

Terry Williams was sixth in junior men. Terry has returned to the Coast full time so he can train and ride with the local talent. He was on fire when he pre-rode the downhill course. His times would have seen him on the podium, but he had a flat right off the start, which hampered his finish.

This weekend, most of the club is at Mt. Washington for the B.C. Cup finals.
