Golf
Gibsons' Mike Mannion finished tied for 32nd at last week's B.C. Men's Mid-Amateur Championship at the Rossland-Trail Country Club. Mannion, who calls the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club his home course, fired rounds of 79, 80 and 75 for a 234 total and +18 finish. Ben Griffin from Victoria won the event with a 208 total finishing -8, four shots clear of Brian De Biasio from Nelson.
Volleyball
Roberts Creek's Kyla Richey is a step closer to earning a permanent spot on the Canadian National Team. Richey, along with University of British Columbia Thunderbird teammates Jen Hinze, Claire Hanna and Marisa Field, have all been chosen following a selection camp last month for roster spots in the senior team.
The 19 players will be trimmed down to 14 following a series of matches against the national team of Peru. The final 14 will make up the national team which will travel to the women's Pan America Cup in Miami at the end of the month, the FISU Games in Serbia in July and the world championship qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico.
Track and field
Roberts Creek's Brianna Kane finished another successful season with the Simon Fraser University Clan women's track and field team.
Kane was one of five members of the team who achieved NAIA All-American status at the 2009 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, hosted by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at the end of May.
Kane finished the 800 metre event sixth in a time of 2:10.90.
