Live amateur boxing returns to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday, April 26, at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre when the Sunshine Coast Boxing Club presents War on the Shore 2.

Boxers from the Lower Mainland, Kelowna, Gib-sons, Sechelt and Powell River are scheduled to be on the card.

The host club is eagerly anticipating the ring debut of Lazar Williams, a former karate standout.

Sechelt's Marcus Baptiste will battle Kelowna's Aaron McKindrick in a much-anticipated bout at 170 pounds.

"Baptiste is a tough, granite-jawed slugger who has shown one-punch knock-out power in a recent Vancouverwin," said club founder Rick Shannon.

The event is honoured to welcome 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic bronze medalist Dale Walters as special guest and referee. Walters is also a former training partner of Coast boxing great Tony Duffy.

Tickets are $20 with kids under 10 years old getting in free to this alcohol- free, family-friendly event. Doors open at 6:30 for the 7 p.m. start.
