Halfmoon Bay's Madison Lamb will spend the summer in Toronto trying to give back a little something to the sport she loves.

Lamb has been invited by Team Canada coach Justine Siegel to be a guest coach for three weeks at a clinic in Toronto.

Lamb will also suit up and play for a women's league in the Toronto area and possibly play for an all-star team in Toronto as well.

"It certainly is a neat opportunity," Lamb said on Monday before leaving for the airport. "The women's summer baseball league starts in mid-June and runs until the middle of August, so I'll be spending my whole summer there."

Lamb is no stranger to high-level baseball.

She was selected to Team Canada last year and sported the mighty maple leaf in Fort Myers, Florida last November as Team Canada competed in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Women's Baseball Championships.

She was selected to Team Canada after she caught the attention of national team scouts while playing for Team B.C. at the 2002 Western Canadian Championships.

"Justine coached me in Florida and said last year if there was a chance for me to come and help her out, she'd call me," Lamb said. "I've coached and helped out with clinics before here on the Coast, and I love teaching younger kids. It should be fun - I'm looking forward to it."

As for prospects of suiting up for Team Canada this year, Lamb said that is still up in the air.

"If they ask me to try out, I certainly would love the opportunity again," she said.
