A large group of competitors from Ostovic's Gym put in a strong showing at the recent Tiger Balm Internationals at Capilano University in North Vancouver.

The kickboxing mixed martial arts event is the Pacific Northwest's premier event, held over two days featuring a wide range of ages and disciplines.

Both Maria Lamarche and Mikhail Olynyk (green belt) placed third in sparring for their age division with Brandon Lamarche placing fifth and Saoirse Stephen sixth. Cody Angus (white belt) placed third while Brooklyn Doobay placed sixth in their division.

In submission grappling novice division, Claude Saunders placed second along with Dylan McLeod. In the 17-year-old division, Cameron Kwasney came in second with Braedon Hopkins third. In the intermediate heavyweight division, Matt Cotton was third.

"It was great to see so many young students competing at this event," said Gabriel Ostovic. "This was a first for so many of the students. The students at the gym are encouraged to compete in the open tournaments to test their skill levels; however, all members of the gym benefit greatly whether they compete or not from the skills taught at the classes."
