Last Sunday the Gibsons Jays rolled in to Surrey with a 0-4 record looking for their first win of the year.

The game started with a very familiar theme to the young junior men's season, top notch pitching and only three hits to put the Jays behind 1-0 after eight innings.

Zach Ruggles got his first start of the season and, backed behind some solid defensive play, gave up only one unearned run, striking out six over the maximum five innings pitched.

Jays' first basemen Greg Kelley led the team on the field with countless plays to keep the Jays in the game, including a line drive double play.

In the top of the ninth inning, with one out, leadoff man Danny Byers stepped to the plate, and for the second straight weekend roped a long drive to the fence, earning himself a triple. Next up was James Pomfret, who smashed a very similar hit, earning a double and tying the game with Byers scoring easily. Andrew Baron capped off the comeback with a line drive single the very next pitch to give the Jays their first lead of the season, scoring Pomfret on the RBI.

Thomas Scarr picked up the save in the win with a few key strikeouts.

The Jays now sit 1-4 on the season, and look to build on their come-from-behind win this weekend in Chilliwack.
