Sunshine Coast Inferno shut out the Point Grey Firecrackers 2-0 last Saturday afternoon in their final U15 gold division cup match of the season.

Inferno played impressive soccer, dominating the field and holding possession for most of the game.

Inferno concentrated on executing a simple back pass to bring the ball forward into scoring position. Excellent first touch and great ball control made the game exciting to watch. Sarah Huddlestone, Anya Kuling, Talia Barnum and Sophie Garmulewicz were especially proficient at setting up scoring chances, although in the first half Inferno was not able to finish with a goal. At least four shots were powered over the top of Point Grey's net.

Inferno blasted into the second half with a goal scored by Talia. Kayli Dunk passed to Sophie who gave Talia a beautiful cross directly in front of the net.

Later in the half, Inferno was awarded a penalty kick when a Point Grey player had a handball in the box. Sabrina Strom confidently kicked a finesse shot into the left corner to bring the score to 2-0.

One of the highlights of the game was watching the Downie twins, Sydney and Morgan, intuitively passing the ball to each other on the left side, keeping possession for Inferno. Inferno won the game with their typical defensive prowess, and sweeper Jackie Morris made no mistakes.
