Hitmen, Razors to play for title

The regular season is just that - the regular season. Playoffs are a whole different story - just ask the Inlet Raiders.

The regular season is just that - the regular season. Playoffs are a whole different story - just ask the Inlet Raiders.

The regular season champion Raiders were bounced from the men's A-division playoffs Tuesday night by the upstart Midway Power/Grasshopper Pub Hitmen 4-2 in game three of their semifinal series. Coupled with the Hitmen's 3-2 win last Saturday night, the Hitmen have punched their ticket to the final, which starts tomorrow night (Saturday) at 9:15 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arena.

Joining the Hitmen are the Ross Concrete/SC Building Centre Razorbacks who dispatched Suncoast Flyers in two straight, winning game two last Saturday 5-3.

In that game, Aaron Portman led the way with three goals, his fourth, fifth and sixth of the playoffs. Tom Baillie and Eoin Ross added singles while Gary Tetzlaff had four assists.

Taylor Waters scored a pair for the Flyers, Mike Lewis had a goal and one assist and Cody Munson scored once.

In the Hitmen win Saturday, Carey Brown scored twice while Ryan Martin had a goal and one assist.

Jared Rutley had a goal and one assist for the Raiders with Bill Stockwell adding a single.

On Tuesday night, four goal scorers replied for the Hitmen with Darren Pollock, Carey Brown, Brandon Waters and Bic Brar finding the net.

Chris Young and Darren Kohuch scored for the Raiders.

The remainder of the final will be played next week with game two Tuesday at 7 p.m., game three Thursday at 10:15 a.m. and, if necessary, game four Friday night at 8:45 p.m. and game five Saturday at 9:45 p.m.
