SCMHA wins president's award
BC Hockey announced the 2013 BC Hockey Award winners at the 94th annual awards banquet on Saturday, June 8, at the Delta Sun Peaks Resort with the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association picking up one of the nine awards handed out.
The local association won the president's award after taking on an initiative this past season to increase participation for younger children.
Their effort to build programming at the tyke, novice and atom levels was strengthened when they were awarded a prestigious grant from the Hockey Canada Foundation. Now up to 20 children in need will have the ability to play hockey with lower registration fees and new sets of hockey equipment. The association is breaking down boundaries for children to participate in the great game of hockey.
