Champagne was popping in Gibsons and in Boston Saturday night after Gibsons Ryan Dempster and the Boston Red Sox punched their ticket to the World Series.
The Red Sox clinched the American League pennant with a 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers to win the series in six games.
The Sox now advance to the World Series against the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals, which begins Wednesday night in Boston.
Dempster has been pitching out of the bullpen in the playoffs and has appeared in two games pitching two shutout innings one against the Tampa Bay Rays in the division series and one against the Tigers in game five of the ALCS.
Coast Reporter hopes to talk with Dempster later this week and have more on this story in the Oct. 25th edition.
