The Gibsons Pigs men's rugby club returned to the pitch in style on Saturday, picking up a win at home.

On Saturday, the Pigs edged Ridge Meadows 15-7 at Cougar Field. With the win, Gibsons improved its second half record to 2-2. "It was a really good game - good contact and hard-fought," said Pigs' player Albert Bezaire. "The last time we played them in the city, we had a bit of a dust up at the end of the game, but Saturday was a well-played contest."

Gibsons tries came from Blair Chapman, Steve Starbuck and Anthony Fures.

"It was nice to get back out and play a game again," Bezaire added. "We had a good social afterwards. They hosted us really well when we played them earlier in the year, so we wanted to return the favour. That's the nice part about rugby - it's not just the game on the field, it's the social aspect afterwards. We had a Hawaiian night and everyone had a good time."

Gibsons is back at home on Saturday when they entertain the Rogues. Game time is 11:30 a.m. at Cougar Field.

The junior Pigs saw its two-game winning streak come to an end after dropping a close 25-24 decision on the road against Richmond.

The game was hard-fought and a real seesaw battle. Gibsons had a chance to tie the game in the dying seconds, but the conversion attempt hit the upright and bounced out.

Shane Morrissey, Scott Gilks, Luka Moriah and Jacob Detels scored tries for Gibsons.

The junior Pigs play Surrey at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Cougar Field.
